Beastly Australians is a charming and witty collection of nonsense verse that captures the unique spirit of Australian wildlife. Written by the celebrated Leon Gellert, these playful rhymes offer a whimsical perspective on a vast array of creatures, from the iconic kangaroo and koala to the lesser-known witchetty grub and marsupial mole. Each stanza invites the reader into a world where nature meets absurdity, stripping away the solemnity often found in biological accounts to reveal the humorous personality behind every creature.
Accompanied by the delightful illustrations of Bernard Hesling, this book serves as both an entertaining read and a characterful tribute to the bush. Whether you are a lover of clever poetry, an enthusiast of Australian culture, or simply seeking a light-hearted escape, this collection provides a refreshing, laugh-out-loud experience. It is an essential addition to any library, offering a light, rhythmic exploration of the wild that is as memorable as it is amusing. This timeless volume promises to bring a smile to the faces of both young and old readers alike.
