The Munt family originally lived in the Weston, Oxfordshire area of England. The earliest documented Munts were William and Sarah Munt who were the parents of at least five children. A descendant, Charles Munt, was the first Munt to settle in Australia. In 1854 he married Ellen Waters who had come to Australia in 1848. They were the parents of eight children. Descendants live in Australia.
